Yup, I'm cool.
Things are moving. To what end, or which way I'm unsure, but move things do. I had a second interview Friday. I feel like it went really well, but who can say? I was in there with a lawyer/negotiator, whom I'm sure is good at making people feel good about themselves. We'll know if/when I get a call back. I'm not holding my breath, but I feel good as of right now. I'll let you know how it goes.
At this point I'll describe the interview process for those of you lucky enough to not be in law school. First you look at firms that are interviewing, and then send your resumes to the ones who you think might want to interview you. Doubtless you'll get an interview or two. (If I had two, I'm sure that most people get many more than that). Then, after that, if the interviewer likes you enough, I'm told that you will go on what's called a "call-back" interview, where you go to the firm's office, and get interviewed by another 6-8 people or so. If these people like you enough, then you may, I'm told, get offered, an, ummm offer. The offer is for summer employment, for me it'd be for 2006. If one has the summer employment, and does the job well enough, and is likeable enough, then one should get the "offer, offer." Meaning an offer for real employment. Serious grown up job stuff.
Its really stressful, but its the way things are. What if one doesn't obtain employment this way? I have no idea. If worse comes to worse, I can always start my own practice, right? I have a feeling that wouldn't be a good idea, but there's gotta be someone out-there that would hire me, right?
If you're a lawfirm looking to hire a summer associate, send a resume request to: granville.powers@gmail.com You won't be dissapointed, unless you wanted someone in the top 50% of the class. If so, you'll be very dissapointed.
In closing, the Braves are on their way to the playoffs, Disturbed has a new CD coming out soon. Oh and the Titans won a game. Yay.
